As a neurosurgeon, I don’t move forward with elect As a neurosurgeon, I don’t move forward with elective surgery without real trust. I take hours of conversation and 100s of emails to build it.
Because when you’re putting your life in someone’s hands, that matters.

So be honest…
Would you still go through with surgery if you didn’t like or trust your surgeon?

This is a silent killer most people never see comi This is a silent killer most people never see coming.

Everyone thinks they’d feel it if something went down the wrong pipe… but what if you didn’t?

Food and liquids can go straight into the lungs — silently, repeatedly causing damage you may not even notice until it’s serious.

As a doctor, this is something I see people completely underestimate.

Would you want to know if this was happening to you… or would you prefer to not know?

Doctors don’t always ask permission to walk in a p Doctors don’t always ask permission to walk in a patient’s room.

And in a hospital, that can mean walking in during some of a patient’s most vulnerable moments when they’re trying to sleep, or just need a minute alone.

As a doctor, my approach is simple: I ask first. If it’s not a good time, I can always come back. I have time to come back not every doctor does. I feel lucky.

Some places do things differently . There are hospitals that require approval before anyone even enters a patient room.

So where’s the balance?

How should this actually be handled?

Doctors often barge into patient’s rooms without p Doctors often barge into patient’s rooms without permission without warning!

Sometimes a whole team walks into your hospital room while people are on a bedpan, exposed during care, or finally asleep.

Some hospitals require nurse approval before anyone enters. Others don’t.

So what’s actually right?
Privacy first… or efficiency?

If you were the patient what would YOU want?

Most people think the best question when picking a Most people think the best question when picking a surgeon is about surgery numbers.
But as a neurosurgeon, I can tell you there’s an even better one.

Because the goal isn’t just finding someone who can operate.
It’s finding someone who knows when you don’t need it and when they can help you.

One answer can tell you everything.
What would you want your surgeon to say? What are other good questions for picking your surgeon?

She hears her heartbeat in her head… every second She hears her heartbeat in her head… every second of every day.
Most people would ignore this and that’s the problem.
I’m a neurosurgeon. I share the things happening in the brain that people don’t recognize until it’s serious.
This can go undiagnosed for years but that constant whooshing can be a warning sign of something dangerous.
The good news? It’s treatable if you know what you’re hearing and seek medical help.

This took time, rehab, and something most people wouldn’t even notice early on. Cases like this are a reminder that recovery isn’t always predictable, and sometimes the smallest preserved function can change everything. It raises a bigger question we don’t always have a clean answer to: when someone recovers like this, what actually made the difference? #health

This one sounds wild, but it’s absolutely real. A This one sounds wild, but it’s absolutely real.

A recent report described 70 patients with a new eye condition due to a virus normally impacting only shrimp and other aquatic animals.

The good news:
It’s been limited to the eye.
When caught early, doctors have been able to manage the complications successfully.
There’s no direct treatment for the virus itself but treatment is focused on controlling the inflammation and the dangerously high eye pressure.

What we still don’t fully understand:
How it gets into humans.
Whether it’s a true infection or more of an inflammatory reaction.

There’s no evidence of life-threatening complications, but it can affect vision if not treated early.

This wasn’t made up for the video it’s an emerging condition doctors are actively trying to understand. Read more in the medical literature or I can answer questions as I’ve reviewed it fully.
